This handcrafted hairpin is made from Ceonathus wood. It has a very smooth finish due to a fine grain. The top of the pin reveals distinct growth rings, with radial patterns and tiny knots continuing down the piece. The wood is a muted tone with subtle flecks of lustrous detail.

Ceonathus is best know to most of us in the U.K. as a beautiful flowering shrub. It has surprised me how rewarding it is to work with. It has been made from wood that would have otherwise been burnt or thrown away.

This pin is finished with Nutshell wax. The product is eco friendly and non toxic, blending selected beeswax, Larch oil and essential oils to give your hairpin years of protection. It also uses no VOC's, formaldehyde or petrochemicals.

We are always striving to improve our processes environmentally. Hand tools are used over power tools where possible and sanding etc. is kept to a minimum.
